Igniting North America, Embarking on a New Journey
– SUNA Shines with Optoelectronic Solutions at OFC
The 50th Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) was held from April 1 to 3, 2025, at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, USA. As the most prestigious, professional, and influential international event in the global optical communications industry, OFC has long served as a bellwether for sector development — bringing together the world's leading experts, scholars, industry elites, and cutting-edge innovations, while charting the forefront of optical communication technologies and future trends.

During the exhibition, SUNA showcased our optoelectronic solutions featuring microlens and silicon capacitor technologies, providing a comprehensive demonstration of its technological strength in the optical communications field.
Manufactured using advanced semiconductor processing technologies, our wafer-level microlenses achieve high-precision optical surfaces on extremely small chip sizes. With nano-smooth polished surfaces, these microlenses enable the most precise control of light propagation.
Inside an optical module, microlenses work in close coordination with lasers and detectors to perform the critical task of optical path shaping. When a diverging beam emitted by a laser enters a microlens, the lens precisely collimates the beam — transforming it into highly parallel light to ensure efficient signal transmission. When the optical signal reaches the detector, the microlens focuses the light, enhancing the detector's sensitivity in receiving the optical signal.
Leveraging its exceptional craftsmanship and reliable performance, SUNA's optical communication lenses have successfully served over 140 optical module companies worldwide, with more than 95% of global optical module manufacturers establishing partnerships with SUNA. In the optical communications field, SUNA's optical communication lens products hold a market share of over 60%, firmly securing its position as an industry benchmark. Furthermore, SUNA's Thailand production base is scheduled to commence operations in Q2 2025, enabling large-scale overseas production and delivery.

Silicon capacitors are high-performance passive devices manufactured using semiconductor lithography processes. Compared with traditional multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), silicon capacitors offer the advantages of small size, high processing precision, stable capacitance, and extremely low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and equivalent series inductance (ESL). These advantages enable equipment in high-speed optical communication networks to achieve higher reliability, greater integration, and lower high-frequency losses.
Our silicon capacitor product portfolio mainly consists of three major categories: horizontal-electrode silicon capacitors, vertical-electrode silicon capacitors, and integrated passive devices (IPD) .
Horizontal-electrode capacitors are increasingly widely used as broadband coupling capacitors in high-speed signal lines of optical modules. SUNA's product capabilities currently support a bandwidth of 67GHz, with a 150GHz series scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2025.
Vertical-electrode silicon capacitors are currently available in two configurations: single wire-bonding capacitors and wire-bonding capacitor arrays. They can be used in optical module OSA or LiDAR applications, with a variety of size and capacitance options to choose from.
IPD products integrate silicon capacitors, resistors, and signal lines into a single device, eliminating the need for additional placement and wire-bonding processes for discrete passive components. They offer advantages including higher manufacturing consistency, simpler packaging operations, and superior high-frequency performance. As optical module per-lane data rates continue to increase year by year, IPDs are gaining significant attention as a next-generation EML substrate solution that replaces traditional aluminum nitride (AIN) ceramic substrates.

This is another blazing start for Suna Optoelectronics on the global stage. Moving forward, SUNA will continue to drive innovation and shine brighter than ever.。
Rooted in the past, embracing the future. The journey is long — today, we begin the next chapter.
